Thompson Roderick is a law firm authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA number: 8015750). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
What data we collect
- Website visitors: technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) via cookies — see our Cookie Policy.
- Enquirers: name, contact details, and any information you provide via our contact form or by email, including details of your potential matter.
- Job applicants: name, contact details, CV, and any other information you provide in connection with an application.
Why we process it
- To respond to enquiries and assess whether we can act for you (legitimate interests / steps prior to entering a contract)
- To operate and improve our website (legitimate interests)
- To consider job applications (steps prior to entering a contract / legal obligation)
- Where you’ve given consent (e.g. for non-essential cookies), which you can withdraw at any time
Who we share it with
We don’t sell or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share limited data with our IT and hosting providers, who process it on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t proceed to a formal instruction: 12 months
- Job applications: 6 months unless you consent to us retaining your CV for future opportunities
- Once a client relationship begins, our Client Privacy Notice and File Retention Policy apply instead
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or (in some circumstances) request erasure of your personal data, and to object to certain processing.
